The lesson
For anything beyond simple tasks, ask the AI to think before answering. This is "chain of thought" and it dramatically improves quality on reasoning, planning, and analysis.
Try phrases like:
- "Think step by step before answering."
- "First list the considerations, then make a recommendation."
- "Walk through your reasoning, then give the final answer."
